Enemy of my enemy – The retrieval of Jupiter’s heart

She surveys the rooms in front of her. Where would it be? If it were hers, where would she hide it? The house is so new it still smells like fresh paint. Guess the old cop was wrong about them rebuilding it here. He underestimated them and they’ve been paying for it ever since. She moves toward the back rooms. It was most likely in a safe in one of the closets. She’s not worried about any safe. She has a skill or two of her own, and opening a safe happens to be one of them.

It takes her less than ten minutes to eliminate the bedrooms. If there is a safe in one of them, it’s buried underground. Deep underground. Frustration begins to gnaw at her patience. Where is it? Where would they hide something so rare? Eileen thinks back to everything she learned from Eric. The sedative she gave him was just enough to loosen his tongue. However, he babbled like a loon for most of the time he was in that chair.

The sedative was a serum. A truth serum. And she’s beginning to doubt its effectiveness. She must have mixed it wrong. “Our first home together.” Every time she asked him about the safe, that was his answer. “Our first home together.” She stands in the center of the living room. Her gaze slowly scans every area of the house. She checked it all. Every closet every drawer. Additionally, she checked behind all the paintings and pictures. She checked all the floors, and there is no denying it. There is no safe in this house. Hidden or otherwise.

My Enemy

Chief Fred Jones sits alone in the dark. It’s early evening and he wouldn’t be here except for the woman. He adjusts himself in his seat. It’s been years since he’s been on a stake out. He usually sends Laraby on these things. However, there is too much riding on this one. He has to make sure there are no screw ups. Or double crosses. Everyone is an opportunist these days.

The front door of the house remains closed. It is full on night now. He wonders what’s taking her so long. She needs to pick up the pace. At this rate they run the risk of someone returning to the house. The family chose to keep Eric’s abduction off the radar. Although that didn’t surprise Chief Fred Jones (not much did these days) it did inconvenience him. They need those deeds. Once they have the deeds they can relax.

This has been years in the making and they were so close now. Where was she? This took enormous planning. Furthermore, it might be years before they get a chance like this again. Likewise, with each passing second, he feels his apprehension grow. If she isn’t out in five minutes, he will have to assume it is a failure. Furthermore, he will have to act surprised when the call comes in about the break in. However, the worst part is missing out on a fortune. And he isn’t going to let that happen.

The retrieval of Jupiter’s Heart

Eileen scans every inch of the living room. There is nothing out of the ordinary. Just like the bedrooms, it’s clean and new. But there are no additional rooms. Hidden or otherwise. “Our first home together.” Unless she was mistaken Eric and Emma didn’t know each other before they lived here. In fact, it wasn’t until after the Chief filed the false demolition order destroying the original house, that Emma and Eric got together. “Our first home together.”

With this in mind, she decides they are losing too much time. There’s only one thing she can think of to do, but she feels loathe to do it. However, he is her partner. And he’s supposed to be her backup in case of something like this. Besides she’s at her wits end. There is no safe in this house. If there is a safe, then let Chief Fred Jones come inside and find it. However, she knows that will never happen, because Chef Jones isn’t the sort to get his hands dirty. That’s why she was in here, and he was out there.

Additionally, it is possible he knows something that Eileen doesn’t. For example, were Eric and Emma together before they moved into the house? If so, then Eileen has been searching in the wrong place. She pulls out her phone and decides it’s their best chance. She needs information. Real time information. While they’re here safe from the enemy. They need to strike while the iron is hot.

He watches the time on his dash. They are at least ten minutes past their optimum time. If anyone comes home Eileen will be caught. Furthermore, he doesn’t need that. He needs this to be done. They need it to be done. Once they have the deeds and the locket, they can leave. They can finally finish what has taken over six years to achieve. Therefore, it doesn’t make any sense that it’s taking so long. This causes him to begin rethinking each step of this plan.

Is it possible Eric knows the chief is involved? Furthermore, who is Callisto and what is his connection to Eric and Emma? Nowhere in all the information they’ve put together on Benjamin Thomas does it mention this Callisto. There were just too many loose ends. And loose ends made Chief Fred Jones nervous. As he broods over the situation two things happen simultaneously. The first thing is a limousine pulls into the driveway of the house. Immediately after the limousine arrives, his phone begins to ring.
