Mr. Werlington’s flea circus – Long way home
Citizens of the universe are special beings. They are a part of a much larger picture. In fact the universe is much larger than is known. Mr. Werlington’s own ‘people’ have been long standing citizens of the universe for millennia.
They have come a long way since the time they started exploring the cosmos. In their early days they had been woefully ignorant of the inner workings of things. They were still woefully ignorant, but mercifully, advanced beyond the early days.
Mr. Werlington decides to place the remaining experiments in the vessel before the end of the hour. He had finished with preparations, and the advancing of the transport system. The only thing left to do was to wait for the system to be ready.
Mr. Werlington
It isn’t a long wait. The system is delayed in this way for a reason. Another thing from the long ago. When Mr. Werlington’s kind had begun their journeys in the cosmos. But their beginning was less than stellar, to borrow a funny thought.

In the first explorers, to the stars, was the hope of a brighter future. Mr. Werlington considers this the way for every civilization that is able to reach the stars. Otherwise why reach for the stars. His own people had failed on multiple occasions. One had happened here on this planet long ago.
He would be untruthful if he denied that was part of his fascination with this world. Furthermore, he had used this same argument to convince the council. He wanted to do the research on this particular planet. It had been imperative to find the missing crews from the failed missions. It was a task suited for one with skills, such as his.
Long Way Home
With this in mind he once again considers his plight. The inhabitants of this world had created a system for their customs. It was part of Mr. Werlington’s research as well. He found it slightly ironic that he was being uprooted by that same system.
Furthermore, the interface and connections that made this research possible, were impossible to duplicate. Another location would have to be found. This is what Mr. Werlington is upset with the most. It will take time. More time than he has. However that is a secondary concern with the current situation.
He could not afford to have the inhabitants of this world know of his origin or purpose here. They would not understand. They were not primitive but they were exceedingly conservative. Ironically, this had been another draw to this world’s research potential.
Flea Circus
Once the remaining experiments are loaded he locks the compartment. From here, it is only a short time before the transport system will be ready. Therefore departure would be soon. He carefully sets the cargo codes into place. The system boots up and begins the holding process.
He is finally set. Now he feels as though there is a small amount of time to see the remaining act. He sits at the table once more, and peers into the flea circus.
