The best family values have love at their core

What does it take to raise a family in today’s world. Does it cost more, or less, than a generation ago? How about two generations ago? Of course, the times have changed. And by extension, environments and even sentiments, can change. External influences are always an issue for the family unit. Therefore a defensive mechanism is important.

With this in mind, the casual observer might see this from another point of view. For example, from the outside looking in view. Families are busy being families. Growing together and learning together. They fill the parks on the weekends. Additionally, they shop together in the grocery store. In fact, family activity is easy to recognize. It’s just not as common as it used to be.

Between hectic schedules, and the ever increasing cost of living, time is a valuable commodity. Furthermore, there is an ever increasing sentiment that waiting to start a family is more practical. Not only does it allow time to save money, but also to develop resources. However, the Grandma’s and the Grandpa’s of yesteryear, had a saying. If you wait to have kids ’till you can afford to have kids, you won’t have any kids. That’s one to think about.

The Best Family Values

There are many good reasons to start a family. Similarly, families develop their own family values. And if they’re fortunate then there are family traditions. Centuries ago families relied on one another in ways we only read about in today’s world. For example, the children would help with the farm chores. Most often before going to school. Furthermore, there weren’t any screens to watch. Just sunsets and sunrises. And at the core of everything, love.

Similarly, a couple of decades ago the kids played outside for most of the day. And sometimes into the evening. The family core was still intact. Although, by then, the infamous screen was taking hold. However, that is another story. This one is about family values and how they develop from love. Particularly when love is at their core.

It is still happening in today’s world. Especially at the playground, or at the church, just after the service. Families and family values. Particularly, during this time of year, when the holidays center around the family. And the family centers around its common thread. Love.
