The Fair Notice and the Birdcage
This small article is with a point but it’s not on the surface. These series of thoughts, were inspired by a birdcage available in an antique store.
It’s the birdcage that is getting to me. It was slightly used and worn a bit, but for sale. Now, I’m looking at the word, which is two words rolled into one, and I think of how it’s a contradiction in terms. It has a dastardly feel to it. Birds don’t belong in cages.
The birds have been back for a while. The winter wasn’t as severe as the almanac predicted, around here. And the skies have been busy with more than planes and rains.
Now that spring is fully underway, there are many more birds. Haven’t seen one birdcage since that day at the antique store, that is a good thing.
The Fair Notice
The almanac gave a fair notice, it usually does. The accuracy is up in the air most times, same as the birds. The birds also have mad flight skills. Watching them zoom across the sky, and dart and weave through the air is exhilarating.
It’s like they never mess up. The birds. They come in for a landing at three hundred miles an hour and just stick it. Every time, no matter which bird it is, they just stick it, without tripping or overshooting the mark. Swoosh and stick, just like that.
They do the same on power lines and tree limbs. Swoosh and stick. It’s all very impressive, especially the air acrobatics they sometimes do in front of moving vehicles, and on windy days.
I just thought of an example where a birdcage was helpful. Sylvester the cat, and Tweety bird. How many times did that birdcage give fair notice to Sylvester that Tweety was not dinner!
That does make good use of a birdcage. When it’s keeping danger at bay. This gives a better insight on that birdcage. Sylvester and Tweety are from Warner Brothers’ Looney Tunes and are quite a dynamic duo.
