The shortest distance between two

Jasper exits the diner with the gunman following close behind. The mid afternoon sun is hot as they exit the diner. The smell of tar from the freshly paved parking lot is strong. Jasper angles away from his truck. Not only is he leading the way to the opposite side of the parking lot, but also racking his brain furiously as they walk.

Not only are they exposed, but Jasper figures the people in the diner, are on the phone with the cops now. He is stalling for time, and hoping the stranger with the gun, is oblivious to his plan.

The shortest distance Between Two

That notion, however, is dashed as the man with the gun speaks quickly and firmly. “I mentioned in the diner that I will use the gun. Moreover, you are not indispensable and we will start over. Now, move to the truck.”

Looking over his shoulder, Jasper notices the man has the hammer pulled back on the gun. Not only is he watching Jasper coolly but also had the air of readiness. This was the demeanor of a professional. It was obvious there would be no slight miscalculation or slip up.

They move toward the truck, Jasper is now leading the way at a slower more deliberate pace. He is confident the patrons of the diner will have contacted the authorities already. It will be any minute now. All Jasper had to do was stall for a little longer.

Distance plan

The heat from the midday sun bears down on them as they walk to the large truck at the edge of the parking lot. Jasper is thinking of how he will stall his way into staying outside of the truck. Furthermore, he was dealing with a professional, who obviously had information on Jasper’s identity. This would not be easy.

With this in mind, Jasper has an idea, but it will be seriously risky and the timing will be everything. Furthermore, judging by the way this day was going already, he could use a little luck.
