The traveling flea circus: Hallister’s revenge
Hallister watches the strange being move away from the circus. It is like watching clouds recede. He decides it is safe to return to the preparations. He signals the others, and returns to his project.
They are aware time is short. Furthermore, they had been certain of this a long time ago. From the very first day when the strange being had arrived at the circus. Everything had changed that day. Not only that day, but also for years afterwards. So much time lost.
Hallister
Hallister is certain they are not the only ones to be captured. Furthermore, it had taken years before they realized what had happened. It is also true they are prisoners. Not only are they trapped but also unable to escape. Until now, he thinks, as he prepares the last of his things.
In fact, he isn’t the only one preparing. Others are too. Changes are ahead. He wants his, head on. The circus was his life. It was his life long before the strange being ever arrived and changed everything. Furthermore, Hallister’s whole family had performed with this circus since its beginning many decades ago. They were more family than not.

No one understood what had happened in the beginning. It seemed like business as usual the first few days. Then strange things began happening. Similarly, the crowds were always the same. The days never changed. The sunsets were all the same. At the same time, day in and day out.
Not only that but it was possible to see it, if one concentrated around the illusion. Somehow knowing it was an illusion made it easier to see around. The way it watched intent on everything they were doing. There was no escaping the watchful gaze. They had already stopped Vivaldicello from attacking the strange being.
Not that he would have been successful, however they wanted to be certain of success before they tipped their hand. They had been prisoners for over half a century. It was important that they be patient and discreet. For a short time more. Especially considering this was for all the marbles. So to speak.
Escape Plan
It had taken years of intercepting messages. Finally those at the circus came to understand what they were dealing with. It had been they who had interrupted this mad denizen’s experiments. It had been the lovely Anna, Vivaldicello’s wife that had come up with the desperate plan. A last hope.
For more years further still they carefully prepared and patiently waited. If not for the brilliant idea of Anna’s they would only know being trapped into endless performances. Furthermore the performances were becoming more and more dangerous over the course of time. The strange being was influencing the acts, making things more dangerous, for the entertainment. For fun.
As if they were simply for its amusement only. Moreover it had been imperative to survive once they had learned of their predicament. It had taken extreme amounts of subterfuge and patience and they were determined to survive. At any cost.
Revenge
Hallister watches the strange being preparing its machinery. It’s preparing for the journey into another reality. The being isn’t aware, and will not be until it is too late, that the machinery will not work as intended. They had made sure that it would never function again. In fact Hallister himself had taken care of the last part personally.
He had foolishly left his flower out where the strange being could find it, however, it hadn’t foiled their plans. Now they were within minutes. Their lives would finally be theirs again. No more perilous acts. No more insanity. No more Mr. Werlington’s flea circus. The end.
