A better haunting year – The Halloween wrap up
Just before midnight and the doorbell has been silent for over an hour. The last chime revealed a large spider. With real spidery limbs! An hour before that there was a group of frightening familiars. One ghost, two vampires and a zombie. The visitors began showing up just before dusk. And it didn’t take long before there were many trick or treaters, celebrating a really cool holiday tradition.
With this in mind, it was a common theme to find the essence of family in all these visits. Indeed, each little monster, ghost, or demon slayer, was accompanied by an adult. In many cases it was a parent, and it was obvious the little ones felt at ease under the protection of their parents. Furthermore, this has always been a tradition, until the little ones become teenagers, or preteen. Then they fairly well demand the independence to travel alone, or with friends.
After all, knocking on a stranger’s door takes some courage. Especially when there’s a greeting involved. Therefore, it’s always best to have a good friend come along to help. Such as a parent, or even a good friend. The overall mood of the holiday was festive this year. And that is positive news. It brings hope that the times ahead, will be just as festive.
A better haunting year
Hope and family. They do go hand in hand. No matter what the times may hurl against them. It is refreshing to see families staying close, and participating together. In fact, informal holidays like Halloween, are great opportunities for families to bond.
Furthermore, one of the best places for this to happen is on the spooky front porch of a neighbor. Or several neighbors. Twice. That is the way to fill the candy bucket. It was debated whether to edit out the secret formula for extra sugarbuzz candy. However, in the interest of sharing helpful info, the editor allowed it.
There were many more interesting characters. Each one with their own story and super powers. Can’t forget about super powers. That is the whole point of Halloween. Gaining super powers for a day. Now that’s something to think about. Happy Halloween.
