A love among the weeds – The twin gardens tale.
She studies the calendar on her desk. Less than a week and the Garrett problem vanishes. Smiling to herself, she looks through her appointment book. The city work crew will do the removal. Unfortunately, that won’t be the end of the matter. Miss Anderson frowns. Who could have expected there would be a second garden? It had taken all her persuasive skills to convince the town council to destroy the gardens. Even then it was a close vote. If not for the drought her plan would have fallen through.
She wasn’t very popular, but that wasn’t important to Miss Anderson. What was important was to stop the connection. It took nearly one thousand years to stop it the first time. Even then it was a near miss. No one could have suspected that Prince Stephen would be as resilient as he was, but that’s neither here nor there. It was then, and this is now. They managed to escape her trap the first time, but never again. She swore it then, and she meant it.

The destruction of the gardens is all she cares about. Once destroyed, all the magic they represent, will also be gone. Then Miss Anderson can leave the town of Keystone. She smiles again thinking about the destruction of the magic. It’s a simple thing really. Just like that day on the bridge. It had been a very simple matter to push Prince Stephen over the edge. What hadn’t been simple was to accept what happened next. However, once again, that was then and this is now. Miss Anderson stares at the calendar on her desk. It will be soon.
A Love Among The Weeds
Mary turns right onto the Keystone River bridge. The afternoon is sunny and hot. Since they left Miss Garrett’s house earlier Mary has enjoyed hearing Miss Garrett talk about her love of gardening. Their adventure was some spur of the moment planning, and so far things have been very pleasant. In fact, this whole outing was Mary’s idea. She hadn’t been able to stop thinking about the gentleman in the binoculars. Furthermore, she couldn’t help but wonder about his connection to the garden.
There had to be a connection. Otherwise, why stand on your porch and use binoculars to spy on people across town? Her own excursion with binoculars notwithstanding. She grins to herself a little bit. She had to admit the gentleman in the binoculars seemed intriguing. In fact, this strangeness with the gardens, feels intriguing. Miss Garrett swears she has no idea who lives in the house with the twin garden. Mary believes her, but also knows there is more at play here than meets the eye.
The Twin Gardens Tale
The traffic is moderate today as Mary turns the vehicle onto the bridge. Then two things happen simultaneously. First, the entire world begins to shake. The bridge shudders and groans as the quake intensifies. Mary has scant seconds to react when an eighteen wheeler jackknifes on the bridge, in front of their vehicle. She slams on the brakes and brings the car to a stop just in time. She asks Miss Garrett if she’s okay as the shaking of the bridge begins to subside. Then on the other side of the jackknifed eighteen wheeler Mary sees someone familiar getting out of a car. The intriguing looking gentleman from last night. The one with the binoculars.

Wesley slams on the brakes and brings the car to a stop. Mr. Conner slides a bit in his seat and makes a soft exclamation. Other than that they are fine. The eighteen wheeler lost its momentum in the slide. Which is a good thing. As Wesley looks around, he can see that the situation could have been much worse. There are several wrecks and though there is considerable damage, no one appears to be badly hurt. After quickly checking on Mr. Conner, Wesley steps out of the vehicle to get a better look at their predicament.
Love And Weeds
The truck is blocking the entire highway. In fact, it will be several hours before anyone crosses this bridge. The route around the bridge is also an hour of extra travel. Wesley looks at the damaged bridge support. They will likely close the bridge after this, he thinks. He tries to remember the last time there was an earthquake in this region. And realizes there has never been an earthquake in the town of Keystone.
“You look different without your binoculars.” The voice is light and breezy. It seems to float melodiously into his ears and straight through into his heart. Wesley feels a sense of powerful things clicking into place. A force of love freed. As he looks across the wreckage of the semi truck, he feels a sense of things coming full circle. And the moment he sees her, he recognizes her from the night before. He can’t understand it, but his entire being feels that this is where he is meant to be. There in the midst of the wreckage on the bridge, Wesley and Mary meet again for the first time.
