All that travels between
He lands on the road. Hard. Glass shatters all around and he tries to maintain consciousness. The truck has stopped. Crashed on the other side of the guardrail.
He struggles to catch his breath as he crawls to the unconscious gunman. The gun is on the ground beside him. Jasper snatches it to him. Still unable to breathe, he almost passes out.
He rolls onto his side, and wills the air to return to his chest. Catching the first wispy breath he tries to force another. Now he hears movement from the gunman. He can’t afford to pass out. If he has any chance to survive this he needs answers.
All That Travels Between
With this in mind, he makes an enormous effort. He sits up and looks around. There is no other traffic. Stopped or otherwise. However he doesn’t have time to think about this, as the gunman begins to stir.
Feeling the wind return to his lungs, he stands and looks around. The truck is totaled. Furthermore there is a strange glow coming from the rear trailer. He hears the gunman mumble something. The sound is muffled, and from the ground.
Jasper cannot understand the strange glow that is seeping from the rear of his truck. Moreover, the truck had been emptied this morning. There should be nothing in this truck.
The gunman mumbles again and this time Jasper stoops to hear. Indeed, he keeps the gun ready, in case the gunman tries anything fresh. Furthermore, he is upset and still dazed from his trip through the windshield. Therefore, Jasper makes a demand of his own.
“Who are you pal? And what’s the meaning of all this…this..”
Words seem to fail Jasper as he notices the glow from the rear of the truck has intensified exponentially. The gunman mumbles something again. However, Jasper cannot make out what he is saying. Through the noise.
Between
Furthermore the glow from the back of the truck has become so bright, it outshines the sunlight. Jasper shields his eyes. Now he can make out the sounds the gunman is making as he regains consciousness. Jasper feels the air charge up all around him.
As the glow from the truck becomes a miniature sun, Jasper hears the words from the gunman clearly. Additionally, he’s trying to make sense of it, as the light intensifies and everything becomes lit…
