Bridges and Butterbeans

Alex feels astounded by what he is witnessing. As he hurries along the valley floor he marvels at an entire world beneath the world. How has this come to be? He checks the screen again. Butterbeans isn’t much further away.

With this in mind, he slows his pace just a fraction. The valley floor is healthy with lush green foliage. Additionally there is a dense and surprisingly thick pocket wilderness. It covers most of the immense underground cavern. Alex enters the outermost edge of the dense forest of trees. As he does, the location beacon for Butterbeans vanishes.

Bridges and Butterbeans

The foliage is dense. The floor of the forest is blanketed with leaves and sticks. Furthermore it gives the overall evidence, and effect, of the changing seasons. Alex finds himself wondering how long this underground world has existed. Much less going through changing seasons.

With this in mind, he decides to call out for Butterbeans. He feels positive she is purposefully holding her position. Not for the first time today he wonders what she has found. He calls out for her. Then gives the special whistle they have trained to use for emergencies.

Bridges

Butterbeans has been holding her position. Furthermore her discovery is compelling and strange. However, that is not why she is staying close to the water glass. Her instincts were causing her to pause. Not only does she know this discovery is important, but also that she has to protect it.

Bridges and Butterbeans

Although she feels perplexed, she is also determined to stay strong. She paces around the strange glowing pool of sapphire colored light. It has an intense and strong pull. Butterbeans has to keep her pace purposeful or risk tumbling into the glowing light.

She has noticed that the light appears sentient. Furthermore, it seems to follow her. It ripples and shimmers as she paces. However, when she stops moving, it stops too. Then begins again when she does. She is thinking about this when she hears Alex and the emergency whistle.

Bridges and Butterbeans

As Alex continues into the trees of the pocket wilderness he notices all the trees are growing at a slant. The effect is slightly disorienting. However, every tree seems to slant in the same direction. Further, all the limbs of the trees and the leaves on the trees, are slanted in that same direction. The direction in which he was walking.

Now he begins to suspect this has something to do with what Butterbeans has found. His curiosity is near overwhelming. Therefore, he feels relieved as he finally finds Butterbeans. She rushes to him, tail wagging on overdrive.

Alex is exceedingly happy that she is okay. Additionally he feels stunned at what she has discovered. He is standing next to a large pool of what appears to be, liquid glass. It is about forty feet across and circular. Furthermore, it is an iridescent sapphire blue. It appears to ripple and shimmer. It looks like someone could jump in.

Butterbeans

The moment Alex thinks the thought of jumping in the glowing pool of light seems to erupt upwards. It plumes upward so quickly Alex nearly falls over. Something has happened. Butterbeans barks loudly and presses closer to Alex as she watches the glowing pool of light erupt.
