Dreams artificial love for truth

(Chapter One for this story, Dreams artificial love for truth, is titled My love artificial and can be found in this link: click here to read.)

The timing was not ideal. Furthermore the end of the class would be soon. Dylan checks his watch. Then he quickly looks away. What did it matter what time it was, anyway? Dylan squeezes his eyes together. It is a very real sensation. He sees stars, and can feel the strain on his eyelids.

No question about it. He is as real as the day is long. However, he turns his thoughts away from this topic. In fact, he was a little tired of thinking about it. It’s all anyone talks about anymore. At least anyone in this city. EastAlternia wasn’t known for conspiracy plots or scandals. Therefore, the announcement, had caused quite a stir.

Dylan closes his books. It’s pointless to try and continue with the lesson at this time. He can’t think about anything but Cynthia anyway. She is all he thinks of, and even now, he is thinking of what he hopes they will talk about later. His anticipation for seeing her, is almost all consuming.

It is impossible for Dylan to imagine being without Cynthia. Was this just a part of the programming? Was he designed to be this way? He picks up his books and gathers the rest of his things. At least he would have the walk home to think about things. Like if this was also just a part of his programming.

As he walks from the building, he is momentarily stunned by the blazing sunlight. It is bright and hot. Once again his mind balks at the sensation. Likewise, any sensation he has felt since the announcement. Furthermore, he isn’t the only one resisting the absurd proclamations made in the announcement. He looks directly at the brightly glaring orb of the sun, and blinks out tears, at the sting of the light.

Truth in Love

Simulation indeed. Who decides what’s real, and what isn’t? Dylan walks on, in silence. He is also aware that he is scowling. Yet he cannot help himself. He needs to talk with Cynthia. Dylan shakes his head and wills himself to stop. He thinks about chores instead. Funny that there was still dirty laundry to do. A well funded simulation should tidy up a bit more. This time Dylan shakes his head as he scowls.

Cynthia is excited this afternoon. She finally got the promotion. Furthermore, she will get the schedule she requested. This will be quite a change. However, the change is long overdue. With the increase in her pay, she will be able to accomplish even more. Then she pauses as she pulls out her phone.

Love for Truth

She wanted to open the AI friendship app, and chat with Dylan. She had good news, and wanted to share it. The slightest traces of a frown fade as she decides to hold off on sharing. This was big news. In fact, this was huge news! Therefore she didn’t want to feel hurried or rushed. She decides to wait until she gets home.

As she makes her way home, she contemplates her friendship with Dylan. She feels confident he will react with positive interest in her good news. Furthermore, he would be the only one who knew right away. Her eyes stare off into empty space for a moment. It occurs to her that Dylan is the only one who knows a lot of things. About her. Only Dylan.

Dreams Artificial Revelationship

Cynthia arrives home sooner than usual this afternoon. She has two more days at her current position, and then she starts her new duties. She feels butterflies when she thinks about it. This is the result of a lot of long hours and late nights. Within minutes she is busy with her daily routine. She doesn’t think about the AI friendship app again until late evening.

Cynthia logs into the app and spends some time with Dylan. They spend several hours sharing their time that evening. In fact, they discuss some things so deeply that time doesn’t seem to exist. She is still thinking about it as she readies herself the next morning.

Dylan is right, she thinks, as she puts the things they will need in her purse. She frowns a little at the small caliber handgun. She hoped they wouldn’t need that. From here she would be at work for the remainder of the day. It would be later this evening before she could check in with Dylan. By then they should know.
