Exercise of games with strange names
So far the topics of exercise in this blog have been soft topics. Easy movements, and low impact movements, as long as there is movement! The playground is the place to be.
Furthermore, the benefits of movement and activity, are many. The importance of activity and movement, to the human body, cannot be understated. Additionally it is science backed. The good kind.
Leap frog! Now there’s a strange game with a strange name! And it’s not the only one. There are some games that don’t even have a name. Yet they are strange, and in some cases energetically challenging.
Strange Names
Red rover come on over. That’s a game with a strange name and it takes more than a few players. Once started though, it is a fun and challenging game. So is smear.
That’s the cool thing about the names being strange. It makes the game strange, and that is beneficial, if it means movement. The game of smear is all about American football. The usual players are young kids, and the rules are simple. Have the ball? Run! The ball has to be given up, after the tackle.
Obviously, smear isn’t the best game for grandparents that have to go to work in the morning. However, there shouldn’t be too much trouble with Red Rover or leap frog. They aren’t as likely to interfere with tomorrow’s workday.
Even a simple game of Hide and Seek qualifies as a movement of exercise. Better yet how about a game of tag? This is a fantastic idea, especially in the snow! It’s easy to underestimate the difficulty of running in the snow, but it will feel like exercise!
A few more strange name games: Redlight greenlight – (best with a group of people) Mother may I (also good with a group) Simon Says and duck duck goose, but these don’t need a group to be fun! Musical chairs is a good one, and then there are so many more!
With imagination and movement it is possible to get an abundance of exercise of games with strange names. All while having fun!
