First dawning of the swingset gate

The universe is a celestial dance. All the cosmos is moving, and shaping and reshaping. The expanse is great, and the distances are vast. However, nothing is left to chance. Even though chaos may seem to reign.

Samuel isn’t one to give in to flights of fancy. Indeed he mostly kept to himself. If not for the swingset factory he would be in the next city over, working for the mill. Furthermore, the events of the last few days have unsettled him. Therefore, he is careful as he moves toward the strange door.

Feeling disoriented from the recent encounter he decides to play it safe. Clearing his throat he calls out: “Anyone here?” His voice falls flat on the surrounding metal of the structure. Just ahead of him the door opens. He jumps and notices the interior of the area is already lit.

First dawning of the swingset gate

Not only lit, but also lit with active machinery that appears to fill the unknown room. Samuel is still trying to decide about keeping the gate. He knows when any of it makes sense, he may want to. He steps up to the door in this underground place.

This place must be more solid than it appeared. Which was on point because the structure appeared densely solid. As he enters the strange underground room he feels the air charge. The fine hairs on the back of his arms stand on end. He can feel the low sound of humming machinery.

First dawning of the swingset gate

The room is large. Also constructed in a way that is unusual. For example the walls and floor are transparent as well as all the housings of the machinery. In the center of the main area is a console station. Samuel walks to the station and looks at the monitor there.

He feels astounded by what he sees. It is an image of the swingset factory. Not only the swingset factory but also the structure beneath it. The one he was currently standing in. Not only were the images separate but also connected. Samuel blinks. It is one structure overall. It appears separate, however one half is below ground.

Interpretation

This realization loses to another as he views the screen. There is also the storm above the factory. Showing as a dimensional model, Samuel can make out the swirl of the storm. It is forming into a mega tornado. It’s size is over twice that of the factory’s.

As he watches the monitor he notices something at the top left of the screen. It is in a language he doesn’t understand. However it appears to be a counter, and it is counting down. Samuel views the entire console station and sees only controls and buttons he can’t fathom. There are no pictures with which he can try to relate. Only the strange unreadable language.

With this in mind, he feels a slight panic. Obviously, he must to do something. However, he cannot understand what. The monitor shows the storm swirling above the factory. The console station is here for a reason. So is the monitor. Furthermore, it is all set for him to see. The door opened for him.

He looks at the monitor again. The image of the swirling storm is flashing red now. This is one interpretation he can make on his own. Things are getting worse. The countdown continues and all Samuel can think to do is touch the screen at the spot of the countdown.

Finale

The moment he does the mage freezes. It changes to an amber shaded series of images scrolling down the screen. Almost immediately the screen with the two halves of the factory comes back into view. The image of the storm above the factory is clearing rapidly.

Samuel sees another flashing message on the bottom of the monitor. This one is finally in writing he can interpret, it says – Gate closed. He turns from the monitor and looks around the large room. It is quiet now. Looking back at the monitor, Samuel sees another brief message. It flashes just before the monitor goes dark.

Congratulations, you have kept the gate.
