For lesser space the time lost

From the moment he had left the diner this morning, time had seemed to stand still for Jasper. He hadn’t stopped to consider all that had changed. For example how had all the police known he was going to be at that rest area? He had no idea.

Furthermore, what had happened in the city earlier today? What had been the source of all the explosions? Jasper shakes his head. He still feels the effects of the collision and ejection from the truck. Furthermore the light emanating from the rear of the truck has become so extreme it burns his eyes.

For Lesser Space the time lost

Limping, and carefully at that, he eases his way toward the partially open doors at the rear of the truck. The extreme light is now pulsing, creating an intensely disorienting effect, in the bright glare of the afternoon sun.

For lesser space the time lost

With this in mind he hears the words again, “It’s too late”. Too late for what? Jasper had the gun now. As he reaches the rear of the truck, he is trying to think of how he will explain this to the authorities.

He is sure the authorities consider him a suspect. Or worse. As he nears the rear doors of the trailer, Jasper pauses. They emptied it at the warehouse earlier today. He is certain of it. Grasping the door handle, he pulls on the partially open door. A bright and intense light spills outward. Jasper vanishes.

Time Lost

Officer Lewis pulls up to the scene of the accident. It is another truck off the side of the highway. Furthermore, this was the eighth one today. He radios dispatch the location, and requests the towing equipment.

It was beginning to become obvious the attacks earlier in the day, were part of something larger. Furthermore, this was similar to what dispatch had run the bolo about. However, he was concerned about the intense light emanating from the wrecked truck. They had been told to be on the lookout. Yet, nothing had been mentioned about active threats. Yet.

He radios dispatch for haz mat recovery. Better safe than sorry. Now he spots a body at the front of the truck, this was becoming stranger by the moment. Stepping out of the police cruiser, he cautiously makes his way to the front of the crashed truck. His instincts are firing on all cylinders.

Lights Out

The light is a hazard at this point. Officer Lewis reaches the front of the truck. The man laying there, is tied with a towing strap. Furthermore, the stricken man is muttering something about ‘too late‘. Officer Lewis radios dispatch. He quickly walks to the rear of the truck and pulls open the doors. The light intensifies and washes over him leaving the side of the highway deserted and quiet.
