Ghost town special rescue – With Butterbeans

Alex sees Butterbeans running back the way they came. He knows she is on to something. However, he must make sure Emily Kate is okay first. They have only just become acquainted and Alex hasn’t even checked to see if she needed medical attention. He looks at Emily Kate, quite aware that he is also smitten with this charming woman.

However, their attention is drawn, instead, to Butterbeans. The ground begins shaking, and Butterbeans barks loudly. Alex hears the sounds of rocks tumbling from the cave opening, in the canyon wall. He immediately thinks of Jared. With this in mind he pulls the radio from his belt and keys the transmit button.

Ghost town special rescue – With Butterbeans

“Jared this is Alex. Do you copy this message?” Alex toggles the button and waits. As he looks back at Emily Kate, he feels surprised to see her surprised expression. She looks at him and asks him what is absolutely on her mind now.

“Is that the same Jared, with a sister from the Bar K ranch?” And she looks earnestly at Alex, as she asks her question. Alex feels impressed with her quick wit, and answers her just as earnestly.

“Yes it is. We were exploring the old ghost town just a couple of miles from here, when we ran into Jared.” Alex looks at Emily Kate noticing how closely she was following his words. “We decided to stick together until we were safely back in town. That is until a certain pup decided to do a search and rescue.” Alex smiles and winks at Emily Kate.

At that moment, the radio crackles, and a static sound issues forth. Alex uses a small knob on the radio, and appears to tune it. Then a crisp sounding Jared voice, comes from the radio.

Special Rescue

“Hello Alex, I’m in the tunnel. I found a map. But there are rocks blocking the tunnel. The rocks fell. Where are you and Butterbeans?” Static sounds from the radio, as Jared ends his transmission.

Emily Kate looks at Alex, and confirms it is her little brother. Then Alex asks Jared to return to the old barn, while they make their way around to pick him up. Additionally, Emily Kate has the ATV nearby. With this in mind, they come up with a plan, to bring everyone, safely back together. Emily Kate will use the ATV to quickly return to the Bar K ranch. Once there, she will get her truck and return to the old ghost town.

Butterbeans

In the meantime, Alex and Butterbeans would begin hiking around the base of the canyon. It shouldn’t take them longer than an hour, to return to the old ghost town.

Alex watches Emily Kate sprint off in the direction of her ATV. He feels completely fascinated, and curious. As he begins to follow Butterbeans around the base of the canyon, the radio crackles and Jared’s voice speaks through.

“Are you still there Alex? I’m going back to the old barn, but something’s wrong.” Alex listens closely, as Jared’s voice drops to a lower volume, over the radio. “I’m being followed Alex. There’s someone down here with me.”
