How to find the evil mushroom without a book

The game is Mario World. It is an old game and a new game. In fact, it’s been around for a couple of decades or more. Like any good video game it has challenges and villains. Additionally there are quests, and there were once special levels of the game, unknown to anyone. Until they were found. The game is timeless, and even all these years later, it’s still fun.

With this in mind, there are also villainous mushrooms. In fact, they are evil mushrooms. Their mission is to mess things up. Either Mario will trip over one, or they will capture him. Either way it is best to avoid them. In a worst case scenario, they can be bounced on to make them vanish. However, it must be done in a precise way. Not landing directly on top of one is a recipe for disaster.

This is an old video game, and most everyone knows about the evil mushroom. Similarly, most everyone knows about Toad. This is a reference to another mushroom character. Only this one is not an evil mushroom. Toad was also, not around, in the original game. That particular character was introduced later. The evil mushroom was the big deal first.

How to Find the Evil Mushroom

Finding the evil mushroom, in game, is easy. Just press start. Almost every start of the game has that villain mushroom guarding the way forward. Of course there are the turtles. Sometimes with wings, and sometimes without, they also get in the way, and try to stop Mario. This was one of the things that made the game so fun. It was challenging.

There were also no books to help find the evil mushroom. That is to say no strategy guides or special booklets detailing cheat codes or Easter eggs in the game. In fact, they weren’t called Easter eggs in the early days of gaming. The secrets in the game were actually that. Secrets. In those days, the internet was still in its infancy. Therefore, Googling cheat codes, or a strategy walk through was unheard of.

That meant finding things by exploring. Sometimes it might be an accident. But after a while, it gets to be more purposeful, as familiarity with the game increases. One of the surest ways to win the game, is simply to play it. In other words, get in there and search around. Stomp on some evil mushrooms and grab those coins.

Without a Book

It’s the strategy guides that help decipher a new game. Once upon a time there were new games, but no such thing as a strategy guide. Likewise, there were very few ways (if any) to get cheat codes. In the early days of gaming, the only way to find the secrets of the game, was to play the game and find them.

A few years after video games and home consoles arrived, strategy guides and things like cheat codes, began to appear. There were finally more games, and more players. Therefore, finding Easter eggs and secrets of the game, were becoming a part of the gaming experience. Additionally, many more aspects of the gaming experience, were being unlocked.

However, this was only possible because the first pioneers of video gaming took the time to find out everything about the game. It took raw experience before any type of guide could be made. That meant someone had to play the game, from start to finish, with no book to guide the way. It was important to be bold, and curious. And on that train of thought, this article is at the appropriate pausing point. Everything looks in order, and ready for part two. Stay tuned for the conclusion, coming up next, and thanks for reading today.
