If it isn’t news it’s the memo

James looks out the plane window again. However, nothing has changed since the last time he checked. They had been in the air for several hours. He was past feeling nervous, and now felt impatient. Forty-five minutes ago, the pilot announced their soon to occur landing. James was ready to be on the ground.

Furthermore, he was ready to get back to his new life. And he was ready to see Anna again. Three weeks ago he explained to Anna that his government had called on him to serve. Then just a short week before departing, the program was scrapped. James still had to show up to answer the call, but there was no longer any need for his services.

If it isn’t news it’s the memo

While this seemed odd to everyone, it was not news to James. Furthermore, he has heavier things on his mind. He is thinking back to the Memo book. Similarly, he took steps to mitigate this secret spy situation. In fact, it had worked well until his arrival at the base. There he learned they were deactivated. However, they were to answer the call, in the future. Should it happen.

If it isn't news it's the memo

Then they got a week’s worth of orientation. This was an unexpected delay. Then another three days involved in small arms training. All of this delayed James. Furthermore, it wasn’t going smoothly at this point. The plane bucks violently again. Then it heaves to the left, as the pilot fights to keep it steady. James holds on for dear life.

He hadn’t expected the story to turn out like this. He felt positive he had written something different in the Memo pad. The plane drops abruptly. James feels his stomach turn a flip and a fine bead of sweat breaks out on the palms of his hands. He feels convinced they are going down. The plane bucks again, then the motor stalls.

James feels momentarily disoriented by the absence of sound. He looks around at the other recruits. They look as bewildered as James feels. The plane continues to glide noiselessly. All the while losing altitude. Therefore James takes a moment to look over the situation.

He isn’t sure why the pilots have stopped all communication. With this in mind, he grabs his pack and gets ready. It looked as though they were coming in hot. Whether they wanted to or not.
