Lucky pockets and the easy eight

It was the place. Sometimes it’s just the place that creates the story. Or legend, as the case may be. The place didn’t exist until Stan Larison built it. After the build, it became an unexpected sensation. In fact, the only reason some people came at all was to marvel over the place. Oh, they wanted to see Lucky Pockets too. But it was the place, that drew them in. It drew them in from all around the world.

The place is the Easy Eight. A ten story, modern day casino, with 200 guest rooms. It is a premiere establishment. And it all belongs to Lucky Pockets. At least, that is what Stan Larison is thinking, as he makes his way to the main office of the casino. This is where he will find the contact info for the glass installer. This time it was two rooms, instead of one.

After scheduling the glass repair company, he takes a few minutes to gather his thoughts. Things were always busy at the Easy Eight casino. Sometimes so busy, there was little time for anything else. Especially Lucky Pockets. However this didn’t always sit well with Lucky Pockets. In fact, he could be quite moody if left alone too long. Stan wonders if that is what happened this time. Something must have happened, because Lucky Pockets has never been violent before. Of course Lucky Pockets is a ghost. Therefore, Stan is really only guessing.

A ghost misunderstood. Stan shakes his head. It is for the cobwebs, not denial. No one could deny Lucky Pockets. In fact, that was what made the ghost so popular from the start. Stan Larison built the Easy Eight from the ground up. It took all his life’s savings, and a considerable amount of courage, to strike the deal. Therefore, a ghost was not part of the original build.

Moreover, the Easy Eight was a year into its opening, before the ghost ever showed up. They dismissed the strange happenings as imagination, or inebriation, in the beginning. It went that way for a couple of months. Until the people who were spooked, began winning. Furthermore, it took almost a year before Stan and certain members of his staff were able to connect the dots. So to speak.

Plus it was impossible to deny all the events that happened. Especially when the guests took video, and pictures. The winning started soon after the reports of the haunting began. In fact, if a guest came to the notice of Lucky Pockets, that guest ended up winning, big. Every time. Furthermore, after six years, Stan and his staff still don’t know why. The ghost has no prior history at the Easy Eight. Because the Easy Eight was newly built.

Now, after the past six years of strange happenings, and then huge winnings, everything has changed. Two of the rooms were trashed the previous night. All the furniture was thrown through the windows, into the street below. Furthermore, only one of the rooms was vacant. Ordinarily this would mean someone was in the casino, right this minute, winning big.

However this wasn’t the case. The guest in the occupied room, has wounds from flying glass. Now, instead of winning big on the slots, they were in an ambulance rushing to the hospital. Stan watches the ambulance leave the parking lot. The door to his office slams shut. By itself. Then the drawers on his desk, open and shut, once. All of them, at the same time. It looks as if Lucky Pockets has come to chat.
