Pocket Wilderness Conflict – Independence day duck
It had been a close call for Dan to arrive in time to help Anna. Indeed, he had been detained in the pasture with Roy the Rowdy! They had been under close ‘observation‘. Dan clicks his bill when thinking back on it now. Observation… detention was more like it!
Now, he is returning to the pond. Dan hopes there will be a chance to save the pocket wilderness. There is important work to do. If they are successful, it might yet happen. Furthermore time was not on their side.
He flies in a diagonal path back to the northernmost part of the pocket wilderness. This is where he and Roy arranged the meeting. In fact, it had been Dan’s fellow duck families that had started things. It was an ingenious idea getting the fowl involved in the pocket wilderness conflict!

With this in mind, Dan was curious to see who among all the fowl would be there. It would not be the pigeons. Everyone knew they were robot drones sent by the empire of the crazy parrot. They were spooky too. Lots of watching, no chit chat.
Dan was sure the chickens and the hawks would join. Furthermore, the roosters were not happy about the ban on sunrise crowing. Indeed, they were a definite addition to the fowl’s coalition. Therefore he hopes the pocket wilderness might yet be saved. It is his home. It is Anna’s home.

He isn’t sure what he will say to the other fowl. That area of inspiration is Roy the Rowdy’s domain. However, he must think of something. They need all the help they can get. Without the additional air support, there would be great difficulty in the pocket wilderness. No one would be safe.
Dan flies as fast as his wings will flap. He is carefully avoiding the pigeons. Therefore, he doesn’t see the net in front of him until much too late. At the last moment he tries to flap over it. He nearly makes it, but one of his flippers snags the net.

Dan tumbles and flaps his wings madly. The net swooshes once more. Now Dan is flapping for his life! He dodges another swoop of the net! He flaps even faster. The net swoops at Dan again! This time he flaps so hard he hits the tree limb just above his head.
Now Dan begins taking an unplanned nap. He lands in a net, though he doesn’t know it. In the tree above, the squirrels have seen. In fact, they have scampered away to spread the word. A pigeon sits on a branch with a robot stare. And the independence day duck is carried away through the wilderness.
