Rated PG and the bottom line
The video is intense. Firstly it is cartoon-like so it feels fun. However, it soon becomes stressful as the action picks up. Within moments there is lots of sinister intent, and then outrageously scary images. The overall effect is an emotional roller coaster. Furthermore, the video is a promotion for a recent video game release.
This particular game is a very popular game among the kids. Additionally, it has some mature content, so it is rated PG. With this in mind, it is easier to remember to watch the game while the game is being played. Closely. Just in case. Sometimes there are questions. It isn’t always easy to know what’s real and what isn’t. Especially for the little one. This is when the parental guidance comes into play.
The importance of parental guidance can’t possibly be overstated. In fact, it is so important, it has its own rating. However, parents know how important it is. And to this end, guard it, and their kids, accordingly. Or at least that is a good idea. And these days it’s more important than ever.
Rated PG and the Bottom Line
In fact, it’s so important it has its own rating. That has always been the intent of the rating system. To alert parents. Similarly, parents can observe and protect as needed. Not everything needs to be known by the kids. Indeed, there are reasons why there are age limits. For example, the age to legally be able to drive an elephant is 17.
With this in mind, it might be 18. However, the age for legally buying cigarettes in most places, is twenty one. That feels like a lot of guidance, and it’s not just coming from parents. Yet, enforcing an age limit, is a far cry from knowing all about a medical condition. Or why clowns are scary, and vampires are not. In fact there are a plenitude of things a parent knows about their child, that no one else does.
That is an important reason why parental guidance should always be the bottom line. There has not ever been a government institution better suited to guide a child, than that child’s own parent. However, it must be a proactive course. For example, watching a jump scare video for content that might be too scary for a little one who is seven, pushing thirteen. For starters.
Parental Guidance
Protecting and guarding the little one is something parents do from the beginning. The proactive parent, the one who is aware of the video and its content, before it ever makes it through the door, is the parental guidance. As well as the early warning system. And absolutely the bottom line.
Therefore it makes a difference what is deferred, and what is absorbed. In other words the answers to those curious questions really matter. Furthermore the source of the information (the little one’s parents) is reliable, trustworthy, and known. This article is an opinion article. It is based on the experience of a parent and grandparent.
