The startling truth about side effects. They can be serious. The startling truth about heatwaves, they can be hot. This might be breaking news. However, this is actually old news, but no less true. Sometimes it feels like truth becomes obscured by hype.
The idea that truth vanishes in false hype, might seem strange. After all, the truth is out there, but not easy to find. No matter the subject, it’s there somewhere. Sometimes there is empirical evidence lending credence to truth. Other times truth needs research. For example, side effects. They do exist and they can be serious in some cases. However, it is easy to gloss over such things. Especially when they appear in extremely tiny print. Or small print.
Side Effects
If one reads the small print, it becomes easy to feel alarmed. Side effects appear worse than the original ailment. With such serious consequences, it is strange that side effects, are not listed in bold letters. Especially in a place that is easy to notice. Like under a very large warning label. On the front of the package.
It is important to note that this article is opinion based. Looking for truth in any article, or warning label, is up to the individual or consumer. Which is slightly different than looking for truth in a heatwave. Heatwave truth is very apparent. It is also easy to find.
If a person was around in 1994 they likely remember the summertime was hot that year. Additionally, there were heatwaves. Furthermore, it was very cold in the winter of 1994. However, this article is about heatwaves, not cold snaps. There was also a heatwave in 1995. I remember it, because I was there.
The Truth about Heatwaves
If these years are compared to the summer of 1987, it would likely seem unremarkable. It was hot in the summer of 1987. There were also heatwaves. This trends even further back in time, but it is a proven fact that summertime is hot. Furthermore some years may feel hotter than others. Additionally, it may feel hotter in a city than in the country.
With this in mind, there are actually some sound theories on why it feels hotter in a city. Concrete and asphalt are two concrete examples. In comparison, rural areas have less infrastructure to block summer breezes and absorb heat. Additionally, there are things like trees for shade. Real shade, the kind that cools, during a heatwave.
Heatwave
In the building industry, or any outdoor profession, summer heat is part of the job. Focusing on the heat isn’t a best practice. Preparing for the heat, and looking for ways to endure it, are best practices. Adapting to conditions is possible with preparation and foresight. Staying hydrated, is one way to endure and be safe, in a heatwave. There are many other articles about the ways to be safe in a heatwave. This article is about the heatwave, and its existence through time. In other words a heatwave isn’t breaking news. It’s summertime.
