Surface tension with Butterbeans

The chaotic noise from below intensifies. The elevator rises quickly and shakes violently from the pursuit of the unknown entity. Alex holds Butterbeans closely as the lift ascends. The Lieutenant is shouting into a communication device as they rocket upwards.

It sounds as though there are gathering forces above them. Their situation is perilous at best. Furthermore their pursuer is determined. The elevator car shudders violently again. Alex wonders if they will actually make it to the top.

Butterbeans yips softly as they continue their ascent from level 113. They are nearing the surface, and the tension in the elevator car is noticeable. Indeed,they are all ready to reach the safety of the installation above. Then another mighty tremor shakes the car. The car stalls ever so slightly. And then continues its upward momentum.

Surface tension with Butterbeans

“When we reach the top, everyone exits the facility. Follow the guard!” The Lieutenant’s voice is strong, rising up over the cacophony that is increasing in volume, as the thing from below, gains on them. The elevator shakes savagely again, this time causing them all to fall to the floor of the elevator car.

Alex holds Butterbeans closely, they are almost to the surface. As well as their only chance at escaping to safety. Therefore, when the elevator finally reaches the top, the apprehension they all feel, is eased ever so slightly.

Now the ground trembles, and begins shaking as the elevator car comes to a final halt. The Sergeant looks at Alex, “When these doors open, follow me. Don’t stop until I do, move when I move.” He looks at Alex to be sure they all are ready. Alex nods and Butterbeans yips quickly. They are ready.

When the car halts the Sergeant helps the doors open. The ground shakes constantly, and worsens as they sprint behind the Sergeant. They are moving toward the outer doors of the installation. Furthermore the quaking floor of the structure has begun to crack open and fissure, as they flee.

Butterbeans

Their pursuer is here. It is hellbent on reaching them. They are racing across the structure to the outer doors. Likewise the elevator car buckles inward and tumbles back down into the depths of level 113. Indeed the noise is almost apocalyptic.

Butterbeans is the first to exit the structure. The Sergeant is next. As they move and turn the entire structure falls. Butterbeans barks furiously as a massive cloud of dust and debris plume upwards. She and the Sergeant can see nothing now, as an eerie quiet settles in.
