The best laid plans – The retrieval of Jupiter’s heart.
It didn’t have to be this way. In fact, they could have done it the easy way. Benjamin nods to his manager, and they take it to the next room. It may take a while to get the information, but they will get it. In the meantime, he has plenty of things that need his attention. For one, there has been no word from James Abner since he left for the war. It is wreaking havoc on Jupiter’s heart, and Benjamin wants desperately to change that.
He sets the numbers for the elusive business deal aside. He thinks of Jupiter and Mary Elizabeth. They missed James Abner. This should not have happened. Benjamin has plans for his son. However, even the best laid plans get derailed. How could any of them foresee James Abner’s determination to get involved? Jupiter and Benjamin were always caring, and involved parents. They were at every event, and they encouraged their children and celebrated their achievements.
Then James Abner decides to enlist. Furthermore, he was still in school when he made his decision. They had him until after his graduation, then he left for basic training. That was six months ago. Not only have they had no word, but also they have no information on his location. Benjamin knows how hard this is for Jupiter, and now he’s going to get some answers. Therefore, he pushes the button on the intercom, and summons his new assistant. So far Eileen is working out very well. She is very efficient, with a certain discretion that feels compelling. Benjamin is pleased with his decision to give her a chance.
The Best Laid Plans
Tiny pulls the limousine into the driveway of the house on the corner lot. Eric and Emma’s home. They only need to be here briefly, according to Callisto. From here they would be traveling to meet Miss Jupiter at Mary Elizabeth’s home in the country. This gathering was of great importance to Callisto. In fact, Tiny doesn’t remember a time when Callisto has been this intense in his planning. The boss is usually laid back and relaxed.
Tiny opens his door and gets out of the limo. He walks to the rear door and reaches for the handle when he notices a flicker of light in one of the windows of the house. This wouldn’t be so strange under normal circumstances. However, they were not in normal circumstances. In fact, the house is completely dark. They left it this way, purposefully, earlier this morning. Instinctively, Tiny turns and begins walking toward the house. He cannot let Callisto enter until it is all clear.
From behind him he hears the limo door open. A second later Callisto’s voice calls out. “What gives Tiny? Anything we should know?” Tiny turns and quickly reassures his boss.
“Someone’s in the house boss. This won’t take long. I’ll be right back.” He turns back around and steps onto the front porch. From behind him, a couple of houses down, a car starts. Now Tiny can hear Eric and Emma getting out of the limo. He needs to hurry. There is someone here, and he intends to keep Callisto, and his family, safe. By any means necessary.
The Retrieval of Jupiter’s Heart
She feels the sway of the limousine as they navigate through the small back country roads. Furthermore, Jupiter is aware of the contrast between the sleek elegance of the limo and the surrounding countryside. She has ever loved Mary Elizabeth’s home in the country. It is far enough away to feel remote, yet close enough to the city, to feel connected. She is looking forward to their family time. Although, for some of them, it will be their first time.
Furthermore, Mary Elizabeth has only just reunited with James Abner. They were very close when they were young. Jupiter smiles slightly as she recalls cherished memories of James and Mary. How many years had it been since they were in the same house together? More than twenty? Rather than count, she decides to check the progress with Eileen. She will have time to plan all of this with Mary Elizabeth soon.
However, even the best laid plans can run into trouble. Especially when dealing with unknowns. And right now, one of their greatest unknowns is Eileen. Jupiter feels a sense of rue as she remembers those long ago days. They should have known. Benjamin, should have known. The view outside the window changes from wooded trees to more open space. Then the fields come into view. Jupiter looks at her phone, one new message. She opens it. They’ve found Eileen.
