The better ten second reset
This was an amazing creation. In fact, it was one of the most complex creations yet. The same as every excellent Lego adventure! This one was no different. This project, was about a favorite video character.
In other words, the little one was creating his own version of something. Furthermore, it was something unique. Everyone knows the allure of Lego blocks. The combinations are unlimited! Add in some wheels and it gets even crazier!
With this in mind, this project was an advanced model. Complete with moving parts. Impressed with the complexity of the work, I watched closely. Each block is placed, then connected. Finally the last connection is ready.
The better ten second reset
The piece went sideways! Additionally the resulting force, pulled the other connections free. Within seconds, all had come undone, as well as a couple of previously placed pieces. Just before the rest of the project took flight to the wall, we called a timeout from building the project!
Obviously the little one found this upsetting. After all the work he had done. It was not cool to see it get undone. Makes sense. Furthermore, it had been unsettling. Especially considering the imagination was on overdrive and running fast. No one enjoys having a creative hot streak interrupt.
The cool thing was still being in the zone. We just needed a moment to realign. It’s easy to overlook something when in the creative zone. Therefore, we took a ten second reset. Just long enough to take a couple of deep breaths. After all, Legos are expensive.
Additionally, they are easy to lose. Later, they are found laying in wait for unsuspecting, bare feet. Even in socks those turkeys sting. From this point the project got a nice restart. Plus some of the audience members joined in and there was a rapid rebuild. Additionally, we saved a small fortune by reducing the amount of Lego blocks lost. Some of them are very tiny.
The project
The ten second reset had been a great idea. He completed his first project. Started another to connect with the first one, and never looked back. It was a close one because the first instinct was to give in to the stress. If not for a brief pause, the outcome may have changed.
Just a few seconds before the frustration got the better of us. A brief pause before anything else. We still have all the Legos too. Plus plenty more work to do. Thanks for reading.
