The easy cure for what ails
A third article on this topic may begin to cover some of it. Other news sources, and bloggers, as well as countless organizations have addressed this topic. It’s been covered in papers, and reports, and breaking news articles. All of which talk about it in one form or another. What is it? Something that was once a goal, but is more of a novel idea these days. A cure.
A cure? What exactly is it that needs curing? Aside from diabetes, cancer, heart disease and a couple of others? In fact, some of these conditions are so prevalent, they have entire industries dedicated to daily supplies. Furthermore, some of these conditions are politically correct. Indeed, they do not discriminate over age. Diabetes is certainly a condition that needs a cure. A cure would change everything.
This article (which is an opinion piece) is the third in a mini series about second opinions, and cures. For years there have been articles about breakthroughs, and promising new discoveries, about cures, for the future. Likewise, it was always a search for hope. The hope for a cure. In fact, there were some exciting advances, on several fronts. However, as is the case so often, the news was forgotten.
The Easy Cure
With this in mind, anyone with a chronic condition, hopes for a cure. Type one diabetes is a basic example of a lingering medical condition. Furthermore, juvenile diabetes, was a growing problem thirty five years ago. Anyone having children in the late nineteen eighties would have been very upset about their child getting Type one diabetes. But it was happening. In fact, it was a growing problem.
Fast forward thirty five years, and now those Type one diabetics, are suffering the lifelong effects of the disease. Moreover, they are still waiting for a cure. This isn’t speculation. There were organizations and charitable causes. All of which were searching for the cure. The easy cure for what ails, and it could be done, if there were enough donations.
I was not the only parent hoping, and praying, for a cure. Unfortunately, there were more things than just diabetes, that needed a cure. And in those days, a cure was always thought possible, with enough work and determination. Talk about the good ‘ole days.
The Easy Cure for What Ails
This is an opinion article. Additionally, it is based on a parent’s experience. And experiences. Parents don’t get honorary medical degrees, when a child becomes ill. Parents have to learn. Just like doctors have to learn. Furthermore no human is born with the knowledge of a doctor. It’s a learned thing. Similarly no one wants a lifelong ailment. It should be a curable thing.
Tip of the ice berg. This article, and the experience, is only at the surface of a much larger story. Anyone over the age of fifty has first hand accounting of the way things have changed. In other words, if you can actually remember the eighties, you know the precise way things have changed. Therefore, first hand knowledge is priceless. And the tip of this iceberg will have to do for now. Thanks for reading.
