The run away – Escape of the colossal.
The giant tilts his head back and roars out loud. Both Logan and Ariel jump. Suddenly, they both feel very frightened and ready to run. But just before they can get a step in any direction, the giant reaches down and scoops up Logan in one enormous hand, and then scoops Ariel up in his other hand. Now he has them both and he raises them up to eye level and grins at them.
“Now we’re going to have an adventure and you two are going to help me.” He takes an enormous step toward the expansive forest at the base of a distant mountain. Logan and Ariel watch from their perch high up in the giant’s hands. They are making quick progress and before long they reach the trees of the forest. “For many long centuries this mountain has been a great mystery. Something very old and valuable is hidden inside. Hidden where a giant cannot reach. However, it shouldn’t be a problem for ones as small as you.”

The giant’s enormous steps carry them closer and closer to the great mountain above the dense forest. Ariel looks at Logan over there in the giant’s other hand. He is looking back at her and then he shrugs his shoulders as if to say, what can we do? This had definitely become an adventure.
Back At the Barn
“How rude!” Ariel stares back at the eye in the window. “We are here on an adventure. We are not your dinner!” The giant eye blinks, but remains in the small window of the barn peering back at Ariel. Then the large booming voice sounds again, only this time with a bit more curiosity.
“An adventure? Here in this place? Why, if you want an adventure, I can show you a place where the adventure never stops!” There is a pause, and the giant eye blinks again. Logan taps Ariel on the shoulder, but she’s too absorbed in the giant eye and the promise of adventure. Then the loud booming voice comes through the wall of the barn once more. “You said we are on an adventure, who’s with you?”
The Run Away
“It’s me and my brother Logan. Our grandpa is back at the playground, so you better not make a lot of noise. If he hears you, then the whole playground will hear you. Why are you hiding in a barn?” Logan taps Ariel on the shoulder again as she’s speaking, and once more, she brushes it away. She’s much too interested in this strange conversation to be distracted at the moment.
She waits for the giant to respond while staring back at that giant eye in the window. And once more Logan taps her on her shoulder. Feeling annoyed now, she snaps her head around to see why Logan is being so persistent. And there is her grandpa Bill watching them both with a stern look on his face. Logan gives her a sheepish grin “I tried to warn you, but you wouldn’t listen,” then their Grandpa Bill surprises them both.

“I have been looking for you two for the last hour. Why didn’t you answer me when I called out? I didn’t know where you went and I was very worried.” Ariel looks at Logan, had they been gone for an hour? Although it was very strange it didn’t matter because they had to leave. Furthermore, although Ariel tried, the giant wasn’t speaking anymore. What’s worse is that their Grandpa Bill didn’t believe there was a mysterious giant hidden in the old barn.
Escape of the Colossal
“What do you think he meant by a great adventure that never stops?” Ariel is sitting in her favorite chair reading a book. Logan is playing his favorite game on his phone when Ariel interrupts with the unexpected question. Logan mulls it over and shrugs his shoulders.
“I don’t know, but I do know that grandpa was worried about us and I don’t know how we were gone for an hour. It felt like we just got there.” He fidgets with his phone and thinks back on yesterday. It almost feels like a dream. Had they really met a hidden giant in an old barn at the playground? Their grandpa didn’t believe them but Logan knows what he saw and heard. There is a giant in that old barn. The floor of the house rumbles slightly. It’s almost unnoticeable. Then it comes again, this time a little stronger. Logan looks at Ariel. She is looking at him with wide eyed shock. Surely not.
The rumbling on the floor happens again, but is much stronger now. It becomes obvious that the ground is shaking from the impact of something huge. Logan and Ariel run to the window. There, in their yard, is a giant set of run away feet. Then a familiar voice comes booming through the roof over their heads, “Come out little adventurers, it’s time to begin”.
