The Waterwheel and the Wagon
A long time ago things were different. Depending on when it happened, some things might have been very different. When compared to our current times. Modern times have brought changes to everyday life. Through technology and advances in technology, things can change quickly.
Once upon a time, there were no cars. Transportation was a different animal altogether. It was actually about animals. The term Horsepower came about in the early 1700s. It derives from the observation of horses working.

Those old days, or long ago times, are quite a story. Furthermore, it makes for a neat history. It isn’t necessary to go too far back, to find all sorts of differences in everyday life.
The Waterwheel and the wagon
It has always been human nature to look for better, and more efficient ways of doing things. The invention of the wheel is a good example of this, and the many uses of the wheel, as well. One good idea spurs the creation of countless others.
From wagon wheels to waterwheels, the wheel invention was a hit from the start. Although, over time, some wheels became obsolete. Better ideas and tools, took the place of those wheels, but they have a place in history.
The waterwheel is one of these. Although a viable workable wheel, through time, its usefulness diminished. Because electricity became the ‘new thing’. Likewise the impact of electricity’s potential was immediately clear. As well as its many possibilities for use.
Now relegated to novelty, or for personal use, the waterwheel is still a symbol of innovation and ingenuity. Furthermore, it is an idea that worked much like the idea of the wagon. Functional, and efficient, with many uses.
The Waterwheel and Wagon
The wagon’s innovative use went along nicely with all that horsepower. Therefore it became possible to do more in less time. And with less labor intensive work. It is possible to think of the wagon as one of those creations inspired by the wheel. One unique idea, spurring another into existence!
With this in mind, both of these ideas are relics from history. However, are they relics? Or have they become pickup trucks? Or generators and electric motors? Additionally, taking up less space, and running way more efficiently?
Many of the every day things that are available here in the present, began in the past. Unique ideas and innovative thinking mean that things like the waterwheel and the wagon, won’t be the only things that get better over time.
