The world lost behind the mirror

Edward looks again. It’s still there. He carefully puts the mirror back in place. So far he has only looked. No more than that. He feels afraid to do anything else at the moment. It’s his family’s new house, therefore the mirror was an unexpected discovery.

Edward moved here with his family. Not only were they in an old neighborhood, but also it’s the oldest home on the block. Situated at the end of the street, Edward’s home is mostly off by itself. He lives here with his two older sisters and his parents. They are all excited about having a new place. In fact, Edward finally has his own room. He is so pleased with having his own space, that he seldom leaves his room.

That is how he found the mirror. His room isn’t large, but it is on the upper floor. It’s next to the stairs going up to the attic. His closet, is at the back of his room, adjacent to the attic stairs. Yesterday afternoon he found the mirror. Today he found everything behind the mirror.

The last thing Edward wanted, was for his sisters to know what he found. His sisters were older than him. Furthermore, they would tease him endlessly for even mentioning it. They would say he made it all up. However, he liked having a secret of his own. Something only he knew about. And then there was what he found behind the mirror.

He was arranging things in his room the previous day. That was when he found the mirror. It was at the back of his closet. There was an old blanket thrown over it. Edward missed it at first. Then he discovered it because he removed the blanket. It was a startling find at first. In fact, it scared the daylights out of him. When he pulled the blanket free someone was standing in the closet with him.

Edward screamed, and fell down trying to back peddle out of the closet. The other person in the closet, was him, reflected in the mirror. After that, Edward spent some time studying the mirror. It was very old. The frame was elaborate, and appeared to be, hand carved. One thing was certain, the mirror was something unique.

The World Lost Behind the Mirror

After re-covering the mirror, Edward is called to dinner with his family. After dinner they watch a movie together. Therefore, it is the following day, before Edward thinks about the mirror again.

He is arranging his closet the next day when he remembers the mirror. Maybe he should move it before it gets broken. He still hasn’t mentioned it to anyone. Especially his sisters. Getting in trouble for breaking it somehow, was the last thing he needed. Besides, he had great plans for his closet, and the mirror would have to go.

The first thing he notices is how heavy the mirror is. In fact, he can barely move it, because it’s so heavy. He decides to drag it instead. Then, as he gets the old mirror upright, he notices something behind the mirror. Not only was it unexpected, but also, from that moment forward, it changed Edward’s life.
