Three wishes and save the best for last

It didn’t take long for him to decide. In fact, after he got over the nerves, the decision was easy. Even though nothing has happened as he expected, he was still willing to try. Therefore, it only made sense to do things this way. Dentz opens his eyes and looks around. Everything is, as it was before. No wish has been made yet. He almost breathes a sigh of relief, but checks himself instead. The rules are simple. No interference. Not even a sigh.

At least they have made it through two of the wishes. Dentz shudders when he thinks about how that went. However, it could be worse. Some never made it past the first wish. It’s not surprising, because wishes are very powerful things. Therefore, only genies can grant them. Of course there are a few simple rules. Every genie must disclose the rules from the start.

Dentz is a genie. And today he is about to grant one final wish. This strange situation is far from usual. Now, as the unusual, but determined young man thinks about his final wish, Dentz watches him closely. Likewise making sure not to sigh. In fact, if anyone ever makes it to the third wish, it’s always the same. Lots of thought. Wishes are powerful things. One has to be careful, and wise, when making them.

Three Wishes and Save the Best for Last

However, there is very little risk in granting wishes. Sometimes it is pleasant work. Other times not so much. When it is unpleasant, things can get sideways. For example, the one who wished to be beautiful on the very first wish. Then poof, they became a flower of immense beauty. Additionally, there were still two wishes remaining. Definitely a catch 22 on that one.

And that is just one example. This is the power of a wish. Oftentimes the granted wish is extremely literal. There is very little Dentz can do about that. Furthermore, he is forbidden to influence or interfere, in any way. Not even a poorly timed sigh. As he would have done, in the previous two wishes.

Does no one ever understand the physics involved in granting a wish? There are all sorts of universal laws and rules. A genie’s work is never easy work that’s for sure.

Alan’s Last Wish

He still can’t believe this is happening. Not only does it feel like a dream but also he might be crazy. Or worse yet he is in a coma and all this is in his imagination. Alan blinks and shakes his head just a little. It’s all a bit overwhelming. A lot to believe in a short amount of time. He had three wishes. Three real wishes.

He is now rich beyond his wildest dreams. It isn’t a delusion because he is standing in a room full of gold. He was in his hometown, standing in a deserted parking lot, behind a condemned building. Now he is in a room filled with gold. Furthermore, the gold bars have his name stamped on them. The room with the gold is also his now. He asked for a vast kingdom with a grand castle. That had been his second wish.

However, Alan has decided to carefully select his third, and final wish. He was exceedingly careful when he wished before. Wishes are very powerful. Furthermore, he can’t wish for more wishes. The rules were explained at the start. Alan still thought it was a joke back then. Now it was very serious. Indeed, he was ready to make the last wish.
