Turtle Wolf and Frog the Outer Banks

Tim is quiet now, and for a moment Julie wonders if he is okay. Then, from the back of the car, Buddy pipes up, “Tim is worried about me.” His tone is sincere and matter of fact. Additionally, he never looks up from his screen.

Tim smiles and looks in the rear view mirror. His voice is soft and full of care when he speaks. “You are right young sir, and speaking of you, how is Buddy?” Tim returns his gaze to the road as he listens for Buddy’s response.

“I’m good.” Buddy never looks up from the screen. He is playing a game, and it is engrossing. Furthermore, he feels a little drowsy from the delicious, later than usual breakfast. So, when he speaks again, it’s in a slightly quieter voice…

Wolf and Frog

” The lady doesn’t want to hurt Julie.” The game continues with sounds of car crashes and battlefields. Buddy is back in his universe.

Julie feels startled again. In fact, she is having trouble getting her mind around this. A situation that is completely insane. She feels astounded that Buddy could see her. Not only could he see her, but also he was able to understand her, somehow.

Similarly, she felt astounded, and surprised this morning at Happy Kids. However, when she thinks back on it, while she isn’t alone, it’s more benign somehow. Then she senses that the vehicle is slowing. Therefore, she looks upon the road ahead.

Outer Banks

Tim has come into heavy traffic on the highway. Not only is it slowing things down but also it will give him a chance to finally talk with Julie. Furthermore, he feels like he has a million questions for Julie. More than this, he feels affection for Julie. He has never, even remotely, brought up the subject. However, it was no less true.

Tim slows the vehicle down to a crawl. Moreover, the traffic is thick, but moving. With this in mind, he decides to ask Julie about the woman Buddy has talked about. Furthermore, he knows it is a source of great discomfort for her. Therefore he tries to phrase his question carefully.

“Was the woman someone you knew?” He glances sideways to see if her expression changes much. He sees a cloudy expression pass across her delicate features, as she processes his question. This shade or vision obviously meant something to Julie.

Turtle

Tim remains quiet trying to give Julie ample room. It takes a few minutes, but slowly she begins to talk. After this initial hesitancy it seems to get easier for Julie.
