When the Memos compare

James feels mystified. They hadn’t been together long, but he is sure they have never talked about this place. The small building has the feel of a warehouse. However, it is empty except for a large chalk board in the center of the back wall.

Anna leads the way into the building. She is walking purposefully to the rear wall. Therefore James follows her closely. He feels his curiosity growing as they approach the chalkboard. It has several things written in chalk on its surface.

He hadn’t noticed it before now but Anna was acting extremely nervous. She was a very graceful and deeply sentimental woman. Therefore James was accustomed to seeing her confident and composed. In fact, she was an award winning actress. Her grace and poise were her very essence.

When the Memos compare

With this in mind he feels the butterflies as she turns and gives him a sheepish grin. Then she takes his hand and they come to a stop in front of the chalkboard. Anna takes a deep breath then exhales slowly. A quick glance at the board reveals all the writing is in Anna’s neat script.

Now James begins to read what is written on the board. As he does, his eyes open wider and wider. He is unable to contain his surprise. He glances quickly at Anna then back to the board, trying to absorb what he’s seeing. It is not that it is confusing. But that it is so eerily familiar.

James is looking at a chalkboard Memo pad. Furthermore, it is Anna’s Memo pad from what James can tell. The first few lines at the top of the board, are of career goals. And then a couple that include her most famous movies. It is halfway down the board, that James finds himself feeling stunned.

In Anna’s neat handwriting are the words – Get married to James Stephens. Then written under these words, are the words, Prevent James from joining the spy program. James feels the room spin as he begins to understand what he is seeing. Indeed, does he not have a similar version of this same thing back at their home? Furthermore, his sense of cosmic irony is causing him to blink too much.

He shakes his head and notices the last entry on the board. Now he can feel Anna’s eyes on him as he reads. Find a way to show James this chalkboard. Finally James is able to think more clearly and he turns to look at Anna, and asks a question.

“Is this the plan the board gave you?” He grins just the slightest bit. Then he pulls Anna closer to him and asks his next question. “You knew me before we met?” He doesn’t wait for a response before asking another question.

“Is this your building? It’s quite a surprise! Thank you for sharing this with me.” James looks deep into Anna’s eyes and smiles and then hugs her gently. He feels a sense of destiny at play. Especially considering his latest entry in his own Memo pad.

Together

Then, he decides it’s time to also show Anna the Memo pad he has. There are still so many thoughts racing through his mind. The implications are so deep he can barely get his mind around them. However the sense that there are greater forces at play, is all around.

Later that evening, after they had returned home, James shows Anna the Memo pad. Including the last entry he made, just hours before. Find a way to show Anna this Memo pad. Anna looks at him, connections and questions, forming in her eyes. They smile one to the other, and sit together closely. All dreams ahead.
