A healthy dinner idea for the picky little one

A healthy meal is a wonderful experience! Said no kid ever. It is important, but not an experience the munchkins are going to get excited about. Unless it’s pizza. And this is hard to admit but there are times even pizza gets a low rating.

It isn’t because the pizza is boring. Goodness no. Pizza is an amazing super food! Furthermore it can be customized. However it’s not as interesting as the latest pignoodles update. Actually, nothing is better than a pignoodles update these days.

A Healthy Dinner Idea for the Picky Kid

One thing we don’t find in a pignoodles update is a healthy dinner idea. Especially for a picky little one. Sometimes the little ones don’t like a certain food. When this happens we look for other ideas. Or sometimes we do a twist on an old idea.

Going back to the pizza, it’s a very simple dish to make. Talk about the ultimate one dish meal! Our healthy idea came from the pizza. Additionally, it is an easy and fun recipe! It is derived from pizza and will prepare and cook the same way.

  • Ingredient List
  • (1) 16.3 oz. can Pillsbury Grands biscuits (homestyle)
  • 24 oz. can of Hunts spaghetti sauce (meat or cheese flavored)
  • 21.5 oz. jar of Ragu classic Alfredo sauce
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 6.5 oz can mushroom stems and pieces
  • 6.5 oz. can black olives
  • 1 small onion diced

Having meat is optional. Sometimes we have bacon, other times we add already browned hamburger meat. The prep time for these mini pizzas is about 30 to 35 minutes. Furthermore it begins with dusting the prep area with all purpose flour. Next, place a biscuit dough on the prep surface and roll it flat.

The Picky Kid

Once the dough is flattened the mini pizza can be prepared. It is possible to create an Alfredo sauce based, mini pizza, or a traditionally sauced pizza. After the sauce comes the cheese. Then a light combination of preferred ingredients. It is really a basic and simple dinner idea for the picky little one.

Furthermore getting the picky eater involved in the preparation of the delicious mini pizza, is a bonus! It is an awesome way to create a meal that even a picky little one will enjoy.
