Add a little sunshine for free health boost.

The top feature of spring is sunshine. That is, of course, a personal opinion. Not everyone likes the sunshine. However, it is one of the great sources of life sustaining energy. It is also an excellent way to get a free health boost. Furthermore, it is a fundamental part of life. The seasons rely on it, and the entire solar system revolves around it. It is an amazing thing on a giant scale.

With this in mind, the smaller effects of sunshine are also enormously refreshing. For example, the flowers that bloom in the Spring. Or the crops that begin to sprout, when planting season is underway. These may not be the only effects people see in the improved sunshine of Spring. There are many health benefits of the sun’s energy as well. The effect it has on the human body is a healthy one. There are warnings about too much sun exposure. But in small doses, the sunshine is quite a health boost.

Add A Little Sunshine

This is the part where the disclaimer kicks in and there are recommendations to check with the doctor before getting into the sunshine. It’s the same way with exercise. Check with the doctor first, just in case. Theatrical pause for effect. It’s possible to research the effects of sunshine. AI is able to describe it. It may even have some research results on the benefits. However, sometimes, there’s nothing like the real thing. No matter what a robot says.

sunshine

Five to thirty minutes in the sunshine. Lots of health benefits. Sometimes a little shade is helpful. Too much sun exposure can cause a sunburn. As with most things moderation is key. However, the benefits of even just a few minutes of sun exposure is well known. Sunlight is the primary natural source of Vitamin D, acting as a crucial catalyst for skin production of D3, which helps with bone, immune, and cardiovascular health.

The Free Health Boost

Free vitamins are a powerful feature of the effects of getting sunlight. Additionally, there is an optimum time of day to absorb sunshine. The best time of day for natural vitamin D production is in the middle of the day (roughly 10 AM – 3 PM), although this is also when UV radiation is the highest. Furthermore, it is possible to supplement Vitamin D production in other ways.

People living at high latitudes (farther from the equator) may produce little to no vitamin D from the sun during winter months. Similarly, older adults (over 70) produce Vitamin D less effectively. Therefore, relying on sunshine alone may not be enough to improve deficiencies. However, as mentioned earlier, it’s possible to find additional sources of Vitamin D.

If you have limited sun exposure, you can get vitamin D from food sources (fatty fish, fortified milk) or supplements. This is actually good news, because then sunshine becomes the icing on the cake, of healthy choices. *It doesn’t take much, 5 to 30 minutes of sun exposure to the face, arms, or back without sunscreen, 2-3 times a week, is highly effective.
