It has been said that timing is everything. It has also been proven that timing is everything. And it’s also been proven that good timing isn’t easy. In fact it’s difficult sometimes. Especially with hot rolls.

Furthermore, timing is so important, it becomes complex in some cases. This article is not about espionage or rocket science. It’s about a hot meal. A hot meal is something far more digestive than rocket science. Especially with hot rolls.

Rocket science has its challenges. A hot meal has its challenges. For the purpose of this article, the hot meal is one that must be prepared from scratch. With this in mind it becomes more apparent what a hot meal is about. Timing. Especially with hot rolls.

For example, pasta. Not only is pasta delicious but also it has an ideal cooking time. It is possible to under cook pasta. Similarly it is possible to overcook pasta. But is it possible to serve pasta fresh and hot alongside a steak? A steak that is also fresh and hot? Especially with hot rolls?

Furthermore, what about a serving of vegetables to go along with the pasta and steak? Some vegetables take longer to heat thoroughly. Timing a properly prepared vegetable with the pasta will be tricky. Especially with those hot rolls. This is starting to look more and more, like a race in time.

Restaurants do this as a matter of course. Timing the preparation of a meal with several menu items is no small feat. Similarly the home prep of a meal with several menu items is no small feat.

So, about those hot rolls. Every meal, that has a side dish of bread, is a good meal! Furthermore it balances a lot of protein with some carbs. For the carnivore this is good news! However, timing the hot rolls to be hot when the steak is hot, is going to take some finesse. Especially with pasta.

All of this action is taking place behind the scenes. No one at the table has any idea there is a schedule conflict between the vegetable and hot rolls. However it’s only minor, the vegetables had been simmering for the appropriate time. In fact, thinking about everything ahead of time was a good idea.
