Family love, the best medicine

Family love, the best medicine.

This is not another one of those articles. Similarly, this isn’t another one of those sites. This site is still under development. However, health and wellness is a quest everyone undertakes at some point. It might be through diet. Or through physical activity. Maybe the doctor’s boring advice suddenly seems relevant in ways it never has before. Whatever the cause, when health and wellness become a quest, the predictable next step is the search for the best way.

Especially in today’s world. Waiting is so yesterday. The search for health and wellness relates to the one doing the searching. It’s extremely helpful to have others to communicate with. It gives a chance for learning through the experience of others. And, that’s genuine humans we’re speaking about. AI may be useful as a companion, but the human experience is best shared and compared, between actual humans. Furthermore, before a large group of bots lose their collective gears, that’s not botphobia, that’s just common sense.

Once upon a time, the family unit served as the communication baseline. Furthermore, the power of that communication baseline, is one of the basic elements of family love. Little ones learn it from their parents. And their parents learned it from their parents. No social system can do what family love does. Those boring family gatherings are more than obligation, they are a direct connection to the past. A real lesson in history, that does not come from a screen.

Family Love

Family love does not come from a screen. Or, to be more accurate, it doesn’t originate there. Sending love to the Grandkids through a screen, is just as important as real life. However, that family love didn’t start on the screen. It began way back when. Back when nightlights and diapers, and three in the morning feedings, were the norm.

family love

It was the first steps and the first words. It was the long days of summer spent together, as well as the brisk days of the winter. And preserving the family love bond, along the way. In larger families there might be large family gatherings where cousins and uncles and Aunts gather to express and share family love. Those are the boring gatherings that are priceless beyond words.

In the hurry up pace of the modern world, the family is usually the first to suffer from lack of communication. Between work, school, doctors and other professionals, communication isn’t necessarily the problem. It’s finding the time to do it. Finding the mindset considering there are so many other communications competing for the attention. For example, social media. Any of them. Or all of them. However, the best medicine isn’t found on any screen.

The Best Medicine

Family love is shareable through a screen. However, it doesn’t start on a screen. For those who remember the nineties, the concept of family is not a strange idea. Open a history book and family is interlaced through the pages of time. It wasn’t until a screen found its way into every hand that family love became so scarce. Opinion? Yes, but an informed one. Anyone with even the smallest bit of common sense can see a difference.

In the early nineties there was not a screen in every hand. If one makes a comparison it should be between the days of no handheld screens, and the days when they became common. Advance the timeline twenty years in each scenario, and look at the results. For those above the age of forty it’s as plain as day. If not, well, you can lead a horse to water…and you know the rest.

Family love was much more common in the days when families were the social center of a child’s life. Handheld screens changed that in a fundamental way. So did the living room screen. It began in the days of the VCR. The screen would play a movie and the little ones would watch while Mom and Dad did housework, or prepared the evening meal. Or various other tasks. At least the whole family was together in those days of VCR baby sitting. If it sounds like science fiction there were those who lived it and family love was at the core. Thanks for reading.
