Matters of the heart reveal truth
Matters of the heart are real. Although the heart is an organ in the body, it is also a connection to the soul. Maybe that’s why it makes so much sense when we hear the words, ‘follow your heart’. It’s instinct. And then so much more. It doesn’t matter who the soul is, matters of the heart, are part of the human condition.
Heart and soul is an expression. It is possible to go against one’s heart. However, the consequences are real. For example, the alternative never leaves the soul. It becomes an insistent little voice. Some (Sigmund Freud, et al.) may call it the conscience. It remains in the background. It is a quiet little voice, but gets triggered when the soul is not at peace. Of course this is an opinion, but it’s based on personal experience.
Personal experience. If only it was as easy, as it is to write the words. Personal experience is costly. The interesting thing, is that everyone knows this, at one time or another. Therefore, it becomes more about personal choice. Or, matters of the heart. We can choose to see it. Or not. Furthermore, we can choose to live by example because it matters. The little ones learn by example. Words are cheap, but actions are not.
Matters of the Heart
I’m not a minister, although I listen to Ministers and Pastors whenever possible. Mainly because the message is about love. The love of our Creator. Additionally, in case there’s any doubt, that’s where matters of the heart originate. Of course, there are many who will disagree, for whatever reason. However, having a soul guarantees witness status.

Our Savior taught us about our inability to serve two masters. Therefore, love and hate cannot coexist in the same soul. At least not for very long. Ultimately one will win over the other. And this goes well with an old tale taught by a grandfather to his grandson. It is a tale about the constant battle inside everyone, between two wolves.
One of the wolves represents good (love, peace, compassion) and the other represents evil (anger, greed, hate). The grandson asks which one wins. And the grandfather replies, “The one you feed”. This story captures the essence of the heart. Because it’s possible to choose. Furthermore, excuses cannot alleviate the choice. Having a soul places one directly in the arena of this truth.
Revealing Truth
It’s been said that one man’s truth, is another man’s conspiracy theory. In this day and age, truth is subjective. Or so it appears to be. Yet, matters of the heart, can simplify this conundrum. Love in the heart, recognizes truth, even in chaos. It’s instinctive. It’s that little voice that doesn’t shout, but remains persistent. Somehow, ignoring it, doesn’t make it go away.
Truth is plain, and uncomplicated. It’s simplicity is the first clue, that it is what it is. Sometimes truth is stranger than fiction. If that little phrase resonates, it’s because it’s true. This is where matters of the heart show up, in the most beautiful way. Something to be mindful of every single day. Thanks for reading.
