What is junk food? Why is it not real food?
It was a first time conversation. Never before had we discussed junk food. Also, it wasn’t an out of the blue thing. This time the questioning began from the denial of a third snack cake. It was fair questioning because there were additional snack cakes in the box. Indeed, why couldn’t we eat them?
Furthermore, we had been going about with the idea that food is food. Even gummie worms. Or very popular chips shaped like triangles. However, the problem is a bit deeper than that. For example, popular toaster waffles drowned in syrup. Or almost anything with the word processed in the ingredients.
The other evening, I felt that holding off on junk food before dinner was a good idea. This is also why the third snack cake was denied. Also, it was time for real food.
What is junk food? Why is it not real food?
Immediately I was asked several questions. For example, why is the snack cake not real food? Then, why is it junk food? Followed by, what is junk food? I was not prepared for how quickly the connections were made. Furthermore, I was in intellectual trouble.
I’m a dad. Of adult kids. Furthermore, the little one is the offspring of one of those adult kids. One of the very best things on earth, grandbabies! It was almost impossible to say no to the third snack cake. Truth be known, I got the box for the little one anyway.
However, dinner was almost ready. It was possible the third snack cake would discourage the appetite for the real food. The real food is the important stuff. For example, real food has nutrients and minerals and vitamins. Snack cakes, not so much..
The snack cake is readily available with no preparation time. Therefore, it has the appeal of convenience. With this in mind, it is high in high fructose corn syrup. It’s worse than that, however this article is more of a beginning, than an accurate report with scientific proof. What is junk food?
What is real food? It has to be important. It’s how we feed our families. On this particular day I went for the no sugar, and is it hot, approach in detailing some basics about real food. My little audience of one was paying close attention to the healthy attributes of nutrients and vitamins and how they help a body grow and remain healthy.
Healthy?
However the real proof was in the green beans and carrots. Not only did they have the nutrients, but they were also delicious! Our main course was hamburger patty steaks. Of course there was also the backbone of any hearty meal. Macaroni and cheese.
We talked about things grown from the earth being real food. And that is a great place to continue our comparison. Taking a more natural approach to finding a healthy eating plan. That last part I added, the little one was cool that desserts were not necessarily junk food. Yes, he found the loopholes that quick! Thanks for reading today!
