The lowest common denominator for a reduction of value

the lowest common denominator

The lowest common denominator for a reduction of value.

The only thing better than money, is more money. The thought was a funny one, so everyone laughed. Laughter is a way to let loose some stress. It’s also a way to improve the mood. But not every laugh contains joy. And not all joy inspires laughter. Furthermore, when it comes to money, the first thing to go is the sense of humor.

That might be a personal opinion. It might also be true. Money is a force. Money also is, as money does. Its influence on life, is unmistakable. In fact, it’s amazing what money, or the lack of money, can do for someone, or a situation. Furthermore, finding the lowest common denominator between the two, is an age old pursuit. It’s the search for what works best. Or what doesn’t work best. But that thing about the lowest common denominator, is something to think about.

the lowest common denominator

It’s like finding a key. The only key possible in a particular circumstance. For example, there are three home baked pies on a tray. Each pie is missing a piece or two. The first pie has three pieces out of six missing. Similarly, the second pie has two pieces out of five, missing. And lastly, the third pie only has half its pieces. The lowest common denominator reveals how much pie there actually is, on the tray.

The Lowest Common Denominator

With this in mind, the lowest common denominator is all about math. It’s the smallest number, other than zero, that is a multiple of all denominators in a set of fractions. It’s a functional result from an equation of number operation. In other words it is an answer. It reveals a common result. Similarly, it’s a reduction of value that perfects an equation. That doesn’t sound much like money.

In fact, that operation or function, sounds more unique than the word, money. It has a feel to it as well. As though it could apply to more than just mathematical equations and sets of fractions. In fact, there’s everyday life. The lowest common denominator applies here too. Sometimes we call it cutting to the chase. Or, getting to the point. These are conditions that don’t allow for beating around the bush. They need one simple effect. One effect, that strikes at the root of the condition. And works out evenly.

Like numbers on a spreadsheet. Perhaps they are set up to administer a budget. The budget is the rule. Therefore, the lowest common denominator might be the amount dedicated to the payment plan. Or the division of resources, which creates a reduction of value, but also becomes the lowest common denominator. Now it has become more than math. Its basic function makes it more than one dimensional.

A Reduction of Value

It has value. Furthermore, it comes from the act of reduction. How often is a reduction in value, associated with loss? Yet in this formula, or mathematical application, a reduction of value becomes important. Preferred. In fact, it is the path to gain through a reduction of value. However, it will always take more than one. The number one isn’t enough to create the lowest common denominator.

Furthermore, a denominator represents the number of equal parts a whole is divided into. Using the number one, would break the proportional relationships of the fractions, making the calculation invalid. In other words, it takes more than one, or the whole thing falls apart. That actually does sound a bit like money. This will get more attention in upcoming articles. Thanks for reading.
